Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for which it is used, and the limited situations in which others may receive it. By using Valley County Criminal History, you accept the data practices stated on this page.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless the law requires disclosure to someone else.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:

  • Page-view dates and times
  • The referring site, when one is available
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • Your device's IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and points where visits end. You may block cookies through your browser, although doing so can change how some site features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Directing a search request to the applicable partner service
  • Finding and resolving technical problems
  • Maintaining site operation, speed, and availability
  • Understanding which material visitors use and where it can improve
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Valley County guidance identifies official sources such as the Sheriff, the dual court office, the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-record files.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed on this site. A partner's privacy policy, retention period, and sharing rules apply to information entered in its tool. Those practices are outside our control, so review the applicable policy before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Valley County offices, Nebraska court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.

Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads. We do not run that tracking infrastructure.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:

  • Government bodies or law enforcement when a valid legal order compels disclosure
  • Advertising networks that serve material on our pages
  • Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance
  • Search partners that process a query submitted through their tool

How We Protect Your Data

We use customary safeguards for information in our care. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Your place of residence may give you additional rights concerning personal data. Nebraska's Public Records Law, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, governs access to records held by public bodies. Criminal-history dissemination is separately governed by Neb. Rev. Stat. §§29-3521 and 29-3523. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Object to certain forms of data processing
  • Request deletion of personal data
  • Ask that incorrect information be corrected
  • Request a copy of personal data held about you

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy from time to time. A revised version becomes available here and carries a new effective date, so review this page periodically for changes.
